Good morning everyone! We have a sunny day here....just very cool.
I received a Cuttlebug for my birthday this year, and have had a ton of fun with it. Note to self: I should do a tutorial of sorts for this...did you know you can cut out chipboard with the Cuttlebug?...Anyways, I just wanted to share with you a few cards I whipped up real fast with the Cuttlebug.
For this card, I embossed with the Bow Frame EF. I then cut it out so that I could frame it with coloured CS. I added the sentiment, flower and brad, and that's it. It can't get much quicker than that.
Recipe: CTMH White Daisy CS, CTMH Vineyard Berry CS, Cuttlebug EF, CTMH black ink, CTMH Say It in Style SS, Prima paper flower.
For this card I actually embossed it directly on the card, you just fold the part you don't want embossed behind the folder. I then sponge daubed the edges, added the sentiment, bird, and coloured the bird with chalk. Voila, done.
Recipe: CTMH White Daisy CS, CTMH Doodle Alphabet & Say It in Style SS, CTMH Black & Spring Iris Ink, chalk, Cuttlebug EF.
This is the inside of the card, sweet and simple.
Recipe: CTMH Kindred Spirits SS, CTMH Spring Iris Ink.
I preferred the solid CS behind the embossing, so that's what I did here. Again, stamp, colour, and you're done.
Recipe: CTMH White CS, CTMH Spring Iris CS, CTMH Say It in Style & Friendship's Garden, CTMH Black Ink, pencil crayons, Cuttlebug EF.
This is the inside of the card. Again, simple and sweet.
Recipe: CTMH Spring Iris & Garden Green Ink, CTMH Sweet Flowers SS.
I hope this has encouraged you to try sweet and simple. It can be just as elegant as a card with lots of things going on.
Enjoy,
Deneen
Good afternoon, hope you're having a great weekend. It's a cold, windy, rainy day here....perfect for posting some more on my blog.
The Little Girl Dress I posted yesterday was a huge hit, but I would get the occasional comment wishing there was one for the boys. So, I made an overall template!!!...for the boys (including my youngest...lol).
The finished card size is 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
Overalls #1.
This is my favourite by far. For starters, I have a soft spot for frogs....maybe from watching Kermit the Frog as a little girl....ahhh, memories. But I digress, back to the card. The shirt I cut out of textured CS, I used CTMH's Fun Times Stamp Set for the frog. For the patch and belt loops, I inked the same CS I used for the overalls. And I used CTMH's Black Bitty Brads for the frog's eyes.
Recipe: CTMH Bamboo CS & Ink, CTMH Textured White Daisy CS, Frog(CTMH Garden Green CS, CTMH New England Ivy Ink), CTMH chocolate grosgrain ribbon.
Overalls #2.
I made a pair that you could use for a baby announcement or shower. I used It's A Boy Cuttlebug embossing folder to emboss It's a Boy on the pant leg. I then masked it, and went over it with a rubber brayer to highlight the words. The giraffe is from Cuttlebug's die cut Zoo Animals set. I finished it off with a button.
Recipe: CTMH Heavenly Blue CS, CTMH Sweet Pea Paper Pack, CTMH Buttercup CS, CTMH Outdoor Denim Ink, CTMH Summer Buttons (retired), Cuttlebug (It's A Boy EF, Zoo Animals DC).
Overall #3.
Of course I had to make a pair that looks worn out....boys do play hard, lol. This was the quickest of the bunch to make. I sanded CTMH paper until the white core showed through. I just love, love, LOVE, CTMH CS. I used a sponge and ink to give the shirt some texture, and then finished it off with some buttons.
Recipe: CTMH Indian Corn Blue CS, CTMH Outdoor Denim Ink, Dollarama buttons.
Overall #4.
For the last pair of overalls, I tried to keep it fairly simple. For some reason, I couldn't seem to capture the true colour of this pair. It's more vibrant IRL.
Recipe: CTMH Crystal Blue CS, CTMH Outdoor Denim Ink, LSS paper, paper punch.
Here's the template I created for the overalls:
If you need a tutorial on how to save & print this template, check out my post on Little Girl Dresses, from July 11, 2008.
Thanks for looking, and go CREATE some overalls for those boys!!!
Good evening, I hope you're doing well today. One of the first things I wanted to share with you all are these cute, cute, CUTE, dresses. The template is found HERE. I increased the template until it measured ~4 1/4" x 11".
Here's a short Tutorial on >>>> How To Increase the Template Size.
- To get the correct Template size, click on the template on the Stampington website (this increases the size). Then right click on it, and choose Copy.
- Now go and open Microsoft Word. In the new document, right click and choose Paste.
- Change the margins so that they are at the edge of the page.
- Now click on the Template and a black box and 8 little black squares show up around the Template.
- Go to any of the corners and your cursor turns to a black diagonal double headed arrow. Click on a corner and while holding the left button down, drag the corner out until it reaches the top/bottom edge of the page. You will now have to do this with the opposite corner, ie. if you were working with the top Template corner, you now have to go to the bottom Template corner and move it to the bottom edge.
- Your Template will now measure approximately 4 1/4" x 11" (don't forget you will be folding the template in half to make a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card.) and you are ready to print. You may get a message stating: "The margins of section 1 are set outside of the printable area of the page. Do you want to continue?" You will need to click 'Yes' to get it to print.
Here are 4 dresses that I cut out and decorated using the Stampington Template:
Dress #1. I used the Cuttlebug's Swiss Dots embossing folder on the front of the dress. The folder is not quite wide enough to cover the whole dress, so I then lined up the dots and embossed the missed section. I ended having to do this by using my marble rolling pin, because it will now not fit through the Cuttlebug. A small section of dots were flattened, so I used an embossing stylus with a piece of foam, and gently pushed them back out.
Dress #1 Recipe: CTMH Blush CS, CTMH Blush Ink, ribbon, CTMH flowers, rhinestone brad.
Dress #2. I lifted it from the example Stampington showed with their Template, except I used the Cuttlebug's D'vine Swirl on the front of the dress. Again, there was a small section that was not embossed, so I finished it as I did the 1st dress.
Dress #2 Recipe: CTMH White Daisy CS, organdy ribbon.
Dress #3. I embossed the flowers on the front of the dress.
The bottom laced edge is my pride and joy...lol.
Here's one thing that you cannot do with rubber stamps >>I used CTMH's Lovely Lace Stamp Set...which is straight...and curved it on the block so that it followed the bottom of the dress. Now how cool is that!?!
Dress #3 Recipe: CTMH Blush CS, CTMH Blush Ink, CTMH silver pearl embossing powder, CTMH Made By Me SS, CTMH Lovely Lace SS
Here's how the stamp normally looks.
Here's the stamp curved on the block.
Dress #4. It's difficult to see, but the front is actually embossed with embossing powder. I used white grosgrain ribbon to tie a sash around the dress.
Dress #4 Recipe: CTMH White Daisy CS, CTMH Lilac Mist Embossing Powder, CTMH Spring Iris Ink, CTMH Adorable Backgrounds SS, white grosgrain ribbon, clear rhinestones.
Thanks for staying with me while I rambled on about how I decorated the dresses. If you can't tell, I like to be thorough...lol.
Enjoy,
Deneen
I'd love to see any dresses you've made with Stampington's Template.
