Swap Cards

Hello there, happy February. I participated in a swap a couple of months ago, hosted by CTMH sister Lisa A. I finally received the other cards and wanted to share our creations with you.

It was a great swap idea...Lisa sent paper and embellishments to each participant, and we would make a card with what she sent and return them to her. There were 6 participants per round, but we only made 5 cards (we didn't receive our own back).

I participated in 5 rounds.

Round 1

Here's the card I sent.

I received the green and blue piece of B&T paper, the ricrac and chipboard flower.

I used black embossing powder on vellum, and attached it with Cranberry brads. I stamped the frog, and clear embossed it.

Here are the 5 cards I received (they were sent the same items I was). We could add to the paper and other items if we wanted, but had to use the original pieces somewhere on the card.

Because so much time had passed, and I hadn't thought about it, I didn't write down the names of the girls who were in the swap with me. When I get that information I'll post it.

It sure was a lot of fun! I couldn't wait to see what the other ladies had created with what we received. I got alot of good ideas from the cards they made. Great job ladies!

Sorry about not posting the recipes, there was a lot to photograph, and get ready to upload for this one and I just wanted to get it posted. BUT, if you have any questions about what I did or what I used, feel free to ask, and I'll let you know.

Hi Ladies!!!

Hi everyone, I am still here. In response to some inquiries of where I am at. January is Prayer & Fasting month at the church I attend. I felt the Lord telling me to fast from posting on my blog for the month of Jan. and to use the time I spent on posting with my family instead.

I hadn't realized how much my posting had been interfering with my family time. It creeps in so slowly...I would say to the kids, "I'm just uploading pictures right now, I'll be with you shortly." And then I would get caught up in finishing the post.

So, new rules for me:
1. Post when I can...I like posting twice a week, but if it doesn't happen for whatever reason, I've come to the conclusion that I don't want to take away from my family to get it done, so I'll post when I can.
2. Edit when the kids are in bed, not in the evening before they're in bed.

I look forward to posting in 4 days...yes, I was still creating during the month of January and can't wait to share with you!!!!

Happy New Year!

Well, it felt like it was time for a bit of a face-lift. No no, not me, my blog.I hope you enjoy the fresh new look.

And yes, it erased a few things, so please bear with me as I add them over then next little while.

Scor-Bug Card Samples

Good day!! Sharon asked me if I would make a few samples to show what the Scor-Bug can do. Here's a shot of the little guy, isn't he cute? You use it with your Scor-Pal, it makes dotted embossed lines.

Card Size: 4.25" x 5.5"

You can use either side of the paper when you're done embossing. For this card, I did a border around the edge of the card, and attached it with the embossing down. The holes are pushed into the paper.

For the next card, I used the embossed lines as embellishments. I used the raised side of the embossed lines, and sanded them lightly.

Here's a close-up of the embossed lines. Because you use it with the Scor-Pal, you don't have to reposition and measure the lines for your paper (the grooves are already measured), you just place your paper and run the 'Bug up each line.

For the last card, I used the embossed lines as stems. Next time I'll sand them a little more.

Stocking Gift Card Holders

I have a confession to make. I...was....going...to...put...my...gift...cards...in...an...envelope. Phew, did it. I can't believe that little 'ol me, a cardmaker, was not going to dress up my gift cards. Then I saw this post by Karen Motz, and knew that I was going to whip up a few stockings.

Stocking Size: Approx. 5" x 5.25"

This was the first one I made (for a girl), the top seemed a little boxy, so I rounded the corners on all the others I made. I kept them pretty simple because I didn't want the cuteness of stocking to get lost under too many embellishments.

Recipe: CTMH PP-That's Amore, CTMH CS-Blush & White Daisy, CTMH Ink-Garnet, Cuttlebug D'vine Swirl EF, Black Sharpie Marker, Martha Stewart Arch Lattice Punch, Ribbon, Pearls.

This one is for a guy, hopefully it doesn't seem too feminine with the poinsettia's. I didn't have a holly branch punch so I improvised.

Recipe: CTMH PP-Evensong, CTMH CS-New England Ivy & Garden Green, CTMH Ink-Garnet, Cuttlebug Argyle EF, Martha Stewart Branch Punch, Black Sharpie Marker, Red Rhinestones, Corner Rounder.

This one is for a couple, so I didn't want to make it too masculine or too feminine.

Recipe: CTMH PP-Aspen, CTMH CS-Outdoor Denim & Colonial White, CTMH Ink-Crystal Blue, Outdoor Denim & Garnet, CTMH SS-Flurries, CTMH Colonial White Ricrac, Martha Stewart Snowflake Punch, Cuttlebug Snowflake EF, Corner Rounder, Foam Square.

I wanted to try and see if I could make a fuzzy-like top section. The results, well, let's just say I tried. I used Liquid Applique and heated it. It's not my favourite, but it will do.

Recipe: Same as above, except instead of Ricrac, I used Liquid Applique.

Christmas Gifts

About a month ago, a friend of mine told me this sad, sad, story. She bought 3 sympathy cards from a store...{sniff} makes me cry just thinking of it, actually having to buy a card...and paid $24 for them. WHAT!!! Ouch. Well, I knew what I was going to give her for Christmas. She's a pastor's wife, so I tried to keep them fairly basic, a few Sympathy, and some Thinking of You cards. I hope she'll be surprised, (I made her 5 of each).

I picked up a new Thomas Kincade stamp called Streams of Living Water, and used Labels Eight and Fancy Tags by Nestabilities. How did we ever make cards without Nestabilities???

This Sympathy card was inspired by Michelle. I loved the colour combo. There isn't much to say about it, just sweet and simple.

Another Burnished Velvet Card

As promised, here's another Christmas card using the Burnished Velvet Technique (see Post 1 & Post 2).

Card Size: 4.25" x 5.5"

Here's where I tried to capture the shimmeryness of the Burnished Velvet Technique.

You may be interested in the piano music. I went to the thrift store and bought an old piano music book...one with yellowed pages...brought it home and ripped, yes, you read right, I actually ripped the pages into pieces. It was difficult to do, not the technique of ripping, but the ripping pages apart, lol...after all, I play the piano.

After I got over the shock, I sponge daubed the edges of the torn pieces, and place the pieces randomly on the card front. I then trimmed all the edges, and finally sponged daubed around the card edges.
I then cut a piece of Sookwang double-sided tape smaller than the card so that it would look like a panel, attached it directly to the card front, I added my glitter, and then finished it off using a black Sharpie marker to outline my panel.
I really loved how it turned out!

6 Christmas Cards

I have a treat for you today! I did my last Christmas card Gathering on Sunday....yippee. So I thought I'd share with you my samples.


All 6 card sizes: 4.25" x 5"


Here are the pieces of paper I gave the ladies.

Recipe: CTMH CS-White Daisy, Outdoor Denim, Spring Iris & Lilac Mist

Here's the first card I made up as a sample of what you could do with the pieces.

I used White Embossing Powder for the snowflakes. I've always loved this colour combination. I used Stickles to add a little sparkle to the angel.

Here's the second example I showed. Aren't they cute!?! One trick that I LOVE about Acrylic Stamps is that you can take a straight sentiment and curve it on the block, and that's what I did here.
