Hello, I'm still here!

Hello and welcome here.  I just popped in to say hi and to let you know I'm still here.  I lost my dad at the end of August to cancer and we spent time as a family visiting him this past summer, and then returned for the funeral.  I haven't had much time to create but I'm ready to get back into the swing of things so you'll be hearing from me real soon.

Love you dad!!

Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"
I wanted to ink up a set I haven't used before and this cutie I can't believe hadn't seen ink, it's called Hymn Girls:  Sitting to the Left.  And how amazing is that sentiment!!  I felt that the need to showcase it with a rainbow which I added using Distress Ink and water.  Her dress is stamped on a piece of patterned paper that had a soft, watercolour look to it, and I fussy cut it out.

Inside:
I used 2 other stamp sets for the inside:  Perfect Sentiments and Background Stamps.

Recipe:  Inspired Stamps SS-Hymn Girls:  Sitting to the Left, Background Stamps & Perfect Sentiments, PP-Frances Meyer Blue Damask, Strathmore Watercolor 140lb Cold Press Paper, Distress Inks-Wilted Violet, Salty Ocean, Peeled Paint, Mustard Seed, Carved Pumpkin, Candied Apple, Shabby Shutters & Dried Marigold, EK Success Wrought Iron Corner Punch, Versafine Onyx Black Ink, Sequins, Foam Squares.

I used silver cardstock for the sentiment to match the silver in the paper.

I stamped and die cut the big peony.  I love that the stamp set has matching dies.

 Here's a close-up of the embossing.

I've been seeing and enjoying all the watercolour images out there and wanted to give it a try too.  And the Altenew Peony Bouquet stamp set I used 2 challenges ago with Copics was the perfect image to use too.   So I watched a few videos out in blog land...one of my favourite bloggers is now Sandy Allnock, she uses watercolours, Copics, etc. and has great informative and easy to understand videos!!...and then gave it a try myself.  Not bad for my first attempts if I don't say so myself, lol, thank-you Sandy for giving me the confidence to try it myself.

Here's a LINK to my Pinterest board Tips and Techniques for Card Making,  I've posted some of the videos from Sandy I found most helpful here in one spot.

I kept the rest of the card fairly clean and simple so that the flower was the main focal point.

Inside:

I stamped the flower onto watercolour paper using Tim Holtz Tumbled Glass Distress Ink.  I then used Faded Jeans to colour in the petals.  For the leaves I stamped them with Shabby Shutters  and coloured them in using Peeled Paint.

Recipe:  PP-Authentique Faith "Gentle" Paper, Strathmore 140lb. Cold Pressed Watercolor Paper, Bazzill CS-navy, SS-Altenew Peony Bouquet & Circular Sentiments, Verve Stamps-Circular Sayings, CTMH Ink-Black, Tim Holtz Distress Inks-Shabby Shutters, Peeled Paint, Tumbled Glass & Faded Jeans, Martha Stewart French Scroll Punch, My Favorite Things Inside/Out Stitched Circles, Xcut Ornate Frame, Foam Squares, Pearls.

Washi Tape Organizer

Hello and welcome here!  I just had to pop in today to share with you an amazing organization tip/find.  Now, I can't take all the credit, lol, my friend Tracey (hi Tracey!!  If you haven't checked out her blog, rush there now...she's crazy talented and makes amazing projects for Heartfelt Creations!) bought some clear 3 drawer containers from Amazon to store her Washi Tape.  Well, I'm not an Amazon shopper and was excited that she found something...mine were just smushed into a plastic container.   Well, without even trying...isn't that the best when it happens...I was browsing at Home Sense (sort of like Winners) and saw this:

It's a coffee pod organizer.  I love clear containers for my craft area so that I can easily see what's inside.  Now, it only had 2 drawers (Tracey's had 3 drawers) but I was SURE that my Washi Tape would fit.  There were only 2, so I snatched up both.

Well, I was just tickled pink when I fit them in!!!

It fits even the larger rolls.

And the bestest part (yes, I just typed bestest, lol), it was only $7.99.  I'm not sure how much the ones Tracey got were, but I'll take $7.99 for an awesome organization idea!!!!

The good news is I fit all my Washi Tape in, the bad good news is I have another whole container to fill!!!!

Enjoy,
Deneen
