Sitting Pretty - 2 Card Samples

Welcome here!! I've been very negligent of my blog lately:( I taught 2 classes this past weekend at the Creative Gathering put on by The Scrapbook Cottage here in town!!! Lots of fun, lots of ladies (around 140 I believe). Between the 2 classes (and I taught 1 twice), I had 64 ladies, wowzers!!! Lots of fun, lots of learning, lots of cards:). I plan to post the cards I made for the classes hopefully this week. But ya never know what may come up, so I can't promise, lol.

Sharon, from the Scrapbook Cottage (amazing lady and her crew, who put on the Gathering this past weekend), asked me to make a couple of card samples using Birthday Balloon Jolline by My Favourite Things.

I used Copics to colour her, and the balloons. I paper pieced her dress on the card below. I kept them fairly clean and simple.

Yup, this is where you would normally find the Recipe for what I used to make the cards, but alas, I can't find my paper with it written down. That's what I get for waiting over a month to post it. Sorry about that, you're welcome to give me a kick in the butt, lol:)

.

Hope you're enjoying your weekend, it's back to work for me tomorrow, but looking forward to Easter.

Magnolia Spring Extravaganza Card Entry.

Spring is right around the corner here in my part of the world. We're lucky not to live too close to the Red River, so we are not affected by the flooding. Everything is still brown and yucky though, but warmer weather is on the way.
.
To celebrate Spring, I made this card using a couple of Magnolia stamps, Tilda Carrying Lamb and Tulip Wheelbarrow. I am entering it into the Magnolia-licious Highlites Blog challenge called Easter/Spring Extravaganza in category #1 Easter/Spring themed card. . . I also am entering this into the Copic Creations Challenge Blog. My favourite technique is using 'flicking' to colour hair. I'm not sure how else to describe the method to colour hair so that it looks like separate strands, but you 'flick' your copic to achieve this look:)

Card Size: 4.75" x 6"

I coloured the wheelbarrow and Tilda with Copics, and added White Fun Flock to the lamb.

I used EK Success Daisy Chain Border Punch to add the flowers on the frame, it's my favourite punch right now. I attached them by cutting my foam squares in half, and finished off the look with white pearls in the center. I had a hard time not adding any ribbon but there was no room for it:) You can see the different layers in the photo below:

Recipe: CTMH PP-Miracle, CTMH CS-White Daisy & Sky, CTMH Ink-Black & Dutch Blue, CTMH SS-Happy Birthday & Four Seasons, Memento Black Ink, EK Success Daisy Chain Punch, Nestabilities Labels 17, Cuttlebug Vintage Die, Martha Stewart Monarch Butterfly Punch, White Fun Flock, Copics, Foam Squares, Pearls, Rhinestones.

Another Trio of Tildas

Welcome Here!!! I always seem to colour Tilda the same way, so I challenged myself to colour her a little different each time. I used the exact same colours, and used the exact same card layout, just changed HOW I coloured her.
.
In the first image, I tried to add pleats...I noticed after, that I should have made them a little lighter around her tummy, but the image was already glued down, and I didn't want to attempt it then. The second image, I kept it light on her tummy, and shaded it until it was darker at the edges...sort of how you would colour a balloon. And last but not least, I coloured in the image with the lightest colour, and added the darker colour right along the edge following just the lines of the image.
.
These are not the only ways to colour, but they were just the 3 ways I tried this time. I would also like to try my hand at colouring images with distress inks..
.
Card Size: 4.25" x 5.5"

I used a Cuttlebug Flowers Die I've had sitting around collecting dust to make the sparkly flowers...I used AC Cardstock Glitter Paper, so fun!!!:) I joined the MAGNOLIA-licious Yahoo Group several months ago, and they are an inspiring bunch!!! I sometimes feel like my cards pale in comparison, but I'm having fun none-the-less and have learned alot from the group.

I'm enjoying sunshine this morning in my part of the world (near Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada), and the snow is melting fast now! The only down side of early Spring......the mud. Yikes, we had alot of snow this winter, and the water doesn't run anywhere very fast, that equals alot of mud...at least the kids don't mind:), once it's dry the rest of Spring is quite enjoyable.

.

Enjoy your day, thanks for stopping by.
