Cuttlebug Mania Anything Goes Challenge & Short Tutorial

Hello and welcome here!  It's September, can you believe it!?!  The summer has flown by and it's back to work for me and to school for the kids.  I actually have 1 in high school this year.  I tell her to stop getting older but like any teen she doesn't listen to me, lol.

It's time to get back to my Design Team work minus 1, Top Tip Tuesday has closed but I'm still with Cuttlebug Mania and Inspired Stamps.  I'm trying to decide whether to keep it to the 2 or see if anyone has some openings.

On to our first challenge at Cuttlebug Mania, Anything Goes!  And I have 3 cards to share with you today as well as a short tutorial.

Challenge - Anything Goes
For a chance at winning an awesome prize, link your creation over at Cuttlebug Mania.
Challenge runs for 2 weeks.
Don't forget to let us know how you used your Cuttlebug!

Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"
I saw a card on pinterest using watercoloring and a die and had to try it out!  You can see her video tutorial HERE.  I added a photo tutorial at the end of my post of how I did it.  You emboss your die onto watercolor paper (you can find instructions HERE in case you don't know how to do that), trace the lines with your marker and then trace the marker with a waterbrush, voilĂ , done!

Inside:
Recipe:  PP-CTMH My Reflections Lucy & American Crafts Moda Bella Dazzling, CS-Bazzill grey, Strathmore 140lb Watercolor Paper, Avery Elle Simple Said Happy Die, My Favorite Things Four Corners Die, LePlume II Markers-#65 Cherry & #12 Grey, CTMH SS-Eclectic Edges & Say It In Style, CTMH Ink-Black & Blush, Foam Squares, Recollections Floral Embellishments, Rhinestones, Papertrey Ink SS-Inside & Out Birthday, Craft Lounge SS-Dandy Days.

Here's a closeup of the 'happy' that I watercolored.

So then my brain was already thinking of the next die I wanted to try watercoloring, Memory Box's Honey Blossom Sprig.

Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"
Oh my goodness, it turned out AWESOME, lol!!  I think I found my new favourite technique.  I stamped a sentiment and finished it off with a bit of ribbon and used my Viva Decor Pearl Pen for detail.

Inside:
Recipe:  PP-Frances Meyer Blue Damask, Bazzill CS-blue, Strathmore 140lb Watercolor Paper, Memory Box Honey Blossom Sprig Die, LePlume II Markers-#43, #100, #15, Lawn Fawn Stitched Scalloped Borders, Foam Squares, Impression Obsession SS-Sympathy Sentiments, CTMH Ink-Black, Viva Decor Cream Pearl Pen, 5/8" Blue Organza Ribbon.

And then I had to give my Tattered Lace Large Flourish a try.

Lots of tracing but oh so worth the effort!

Cuttlebug Mania Anything Christmas

Hello and welcome here!  It's time for another Cuttlebug Mania Challenge and since we're so close to Christmas it's an Anything Christmas/New Year's Challenge. This will be the last challenge for this year, we'll continue again in January!

Challenge - Anything Christmas or New Year's
For a chance at winning an awesome prize, link your creation over at Cuttlebug Mania.
Challenge runs for 2 weeks.
Don't forget to let us know how you used your Cuttlebug!

Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"
This stamp by Stampendous is absolutely beautiful, it's called Snowy Postcard, I love the vintage feel of it.  For my card I wanted to dress it up a bit so I cut out the oval image shape using Spellbinders and then matted it and added a bit of a flourish.  I finished it off with a snowflake along the lower right hand edge.

I distressed the edges using Distress Ink Vintage Photo...the image I stamped using Distress Ink Stormy Sky.

I added some glitter to the roof tops and along the fence line, it's difficult to capture it in the photo.

Inside:
Recipe:  Bazzill CS-Mono Typhoon, CTMH White Daisy CS, Stampendous SS-Snowy Postcard, Inkadinkado-Christmas Silhouettes, Distress Inks-Vintage Photo & Stormy Sky, Spellbinders-Petite Ovals Lg., Create-A-Flake 3 & Create-A-Flake 5, Memory Box-Tiffany Frame, Foam Squares, Viva Decor Holo Iridescent Glitter Liner, Martha Stewart Branch Punch.

Cuttlebug Items Used:
Spellbinders Petite Ovals Large Die
Spellbinders Create-A-Flake 3 Die
Spellbinders Create-A-Flake 5 Die
Memory Box Tiffany Frame Die

I hope you can join us for the Anything Christmas or New Year's Challenge!

The Cuttlebug Spot Feathers Challenge

This is my second post for today, so if you're looking for the Top Tip Tuesday Challenge please scroll down:)

This week the challenge over at The Cuttlebug Spot is Feathers...real, paper feathers, etc., but don't forget to use your Cuttlebug on your project too!

Challenge - Feathers

Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"
I decided to go with a wedding card, although it could be used as a Birthday Card too.  I love the rich purple colour of the feathers and chose to highlight them by using only white.  I embossed the frame using Sizzix Loving Thoughts and tried to have the feathers curve along the one side.  I didn't want to break the shaft of the feather and make it weak, so it looks a little rigid....but I love the end result.

I added some Crystal Ice Stickles around the frame to give the card a little sparkle.

Recipe:  CS-Bazzil Prismatics, CTMH CS-White Daisy, CTMH Ink-Black, SS-Inkadinkado Expressions, EF-Sizzix Loving Thoughts, Crystal Ice Stickles, Celebrate It Sheer Creations Ribbon.

Ready to join us for the Feathers Challenge.  You have 1 week to complete your project and add it to the Feathers Challenge link....Good Luck! If you need more Feathers inspiration be sure to check out the rest of the DT creations over at The Cuttlebug Spot.

Enjoy,
Deneen

Top Tip Tuesday Christmas Tag

Hello and welcome here. Today is another Top Tip Tuesday post, the challenge this week is Tags - Use a tag on your project or make a tag as your project. I went with making a tag as my project.

Challenge - Tags
Tipper Week - each DT member shares a tip

Tag size: 3" x 6.25"

I cut my tag out of Colonial White CS and stamped it randomly with CTMH Universal Backgrounds using Bamboo Ink. I then heat dried it because I wanted to emboss my image. I stamped the angel with Versamark and used Gold embossing powder. I used Spellbinders Layered Poinsettia, and embossed the edges with Gold embossing powder. I distress the edges with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink.

The Sponsor's for this week:

Pink Cat Studio - 5 digis of your choice
and
For the Top Tipper:
Glitterbabe Greetings - 2 images of your choice

Here are some close-up photos of elements on my tag.

I used Gold Flower Soft for the center of the Poinsettia.

Recipe: Inspired Stamps-Vintage Christmas, CTMH SS-Universal Backgrounds, Inkadinkado-Christmas Silhouettes, CTMH CS-Colonial White, Vineyard Berry & Garden Green, CTMH Ink-Bamboo, Distress Ink-Brushed Corduroy, Versamark, Gold EP, Nestabilities-Layered Poinsettia, Burgundy Satin, Grosgrain & Velvet Riboon, Cream Lace, Foam Squares, Gold Flower Soft.

Tip: Add labels, and sponge daub the ink on a small square so that you know what the colours of Distress Ink really look like.

Be sure to stop by Top Tip Tuesday to check out what the rest of the DT made, and their TIPS. Don't forget to add your link there as well, and for an extra chance at a prize leave TIP after your name...just make sure your Tip can be found within your post.

Enjoy,
Deneen

It's Not Easy Being Green

Hello, and welcome here. If you grew up with the Muppets you'll recognize my Post Title, it refers to Kermit the Frog. Which come to think of it, may be why green is my favourite colour...and frogs my favourite animal:) Nope, I'm not kidding, I love frogs!

I wasn't finished playing around with my JustRite stamps. I CASE'd (Copied And Stamped Exactly...or almost exactly) this card from pg. 70 Card Creations: Favorite Occasions v.2.

Card Size: 4.25" x 5.5"

I picked up the new Bo Bunny Garden Girl 6x6 Collection and knew that it would be perfect for this card. The lace I had was a little to light, so I used Distress Inks to darken it. It's difficult to tell, but I added Platinum Stickles around the edge of the oval.

Inside:

Recipe: CTMH CS-New England Ivy & Colonial White, CTMH Ink- Topiary, Black & Desert Sand, CTMH SS-Eclectic Edges & Celebrate Life, Inkadinkado-Expressions, JustRite Stamps-Heart to Heart Set, Light Green Textured CS,Distress Inks-Antique Linen & Tea Dye, Nestabilities-Oval, Lacy Ovals & Labels 18, BoBunny Garden Girl 6x6 Collection, Cream Grosgrain Ribbon, Cream Lace Ribbon, Pearls, Stickles-Platinum, Foam Squares.

Hope you're enjoying your Labour Day! Tomorrow it's back to work for me, and Wednesday it's back to school for the kids.

JustRite Card and Flower Tutorial

Hello and welcome here! I have a card made with JustRite stamps that I wanted to share with you today. The idea for this card came from Stamp It Techniques Winter 2011, pg. 12 by Vanessa Menhorn. I wanted to use my scrolly JustRite stamps and when I saw Vanessa's card I was inspired. (I tried to find an online photo of her card, but had no luck...the issue was out this past spring.)

Card Size: 4.25" x 5.5"

I love that this card is sort of like a chameleon...it's elegant enough to be used as a Wedding Card, or soft enough to be used as a Sympathy Card...even a Birthday Card.

I changed up the colours from the original card (cream and green), and used burgundy and white. I clear embossed the center scrollwork stamp and sponged Distress Inks-Pumice Stone to bring out the embossing. Using the same stamp, I used Pumice Stone and 2nd generation stamping around the edges. I coloured white pearls with Copics RV99 to match my ribbon.

I didn't have the right flower colour for the card, so I ended up making one from scratch. I have a tutorial below to show you the steps of how I did that.

Inside:

Recipe: CTMH CS-White Daisy, Textured CS-Burgundy, Distress Inks-Pumice Stone, Black Soot & Victorian Velvet, CTMH SS-Universal Backgrounds, My Mind's Eye Stamps-Lost & Found Two, JustRite Stamps-Heart to Heart Set & Kindness, Inkadinkado Stamps-Expressions, VersaMark, Clear Embossing Powder, Paper Leaves, Burgundy Satin Ribbon, Pearls, Copic RV99.

Here's the flower I had on hand but it was not the right colour. When looking at it, I thought I could come up with something similar.

Here's the card again to show you the flower. I ended up using my stipple brush to ink some colour onto it because it was a little too white. It would have been best to ink my flower before making it:)
