Candle Stamping & Tutorial

This week on Heart 2 Heart Challenges it is an ABC Challenge - Anything But a Card. I thought it was the perfect time to dust off the candle I had (since November '09, lol), and give Candle Stamping a try. You're not really stamping on the candle...but on tissue paper that you'll melt to the candle. I have a Tutorial to show you how it's done. I was so surprised at how easy it really was, I don't know why I waited so long to give it a try!
(After I did the first one, I sent my husband out to buy more candles...lol! Thanks sweetie:))
The candles measure 4" tall...but the stamping area is 3.5". I finished the candles off with Organdy ribbon because I wanted the stamping to be the focus, not the embellishments.
Here's some close-ups of the candles.
The butterfly I stamped onto vellum, coloured it, and cut it out. I attached the body and antenna to the candle, and bent the wings up.
I just noticed, I should have added a rhinestone for an eye on the hummingbird.
I used the tops of the bamboo from Intrinsic Background for the grass that goes around the bottom of the candle.
Recipe: CTMH Ink-Chocolate, Black, Tulip, Juniper & Desert Sand, CTMH SS-You Are Beautiful, Follow Your Heart, Spring Possibilities, Instrinsic Backgrounds & Treasure Life, Tissue Paper, Vellum, Copics-B12, B23, B39, YG95, Y11, C-3, G99, Organdy Ribbon.
Here's close-ups of the next candle.
Because the image soaks through the tissue paper, you can make mirror images (I show this in the Tutorial below).

Recipe: CTMH Ink-Desert Sand & Black, CTMH SS-Live Inspired, Tissue Paper, Organdy Ribbon.
Here's a close-up of the last candle I stamped. It was difficult to stop at 3, I had alot of ideas...I'll be trying them out...I still can't believe I waited so long to try this out, lol!
Recipe: CTMH Ink-Blush, Petal, Dutch Blue & Topiary, CTMH SS-A Posy, Tissue Paper, Martha Stewart Layered Arches Border Punch, Floral Grosgrain Ribbon, Organdy Ribbon, Rhinestones.

Oh my gosh, these are so pretty. I tried it once years ago and didn't have good luck with it and never tried it again. Maybe I will give it another try. Thanks for the inspiration and the tut.
