Pink Posie

This card was inspired by a CTMH sista Lisa Stenz. I had the background done, and then got stuck on what image to use for the front. I was going through my files when I came across a card by Lisa that used the flower and vase from CTMH SS With Love, and I knew that's what I wanted to do with this card.

Card Size: 4.25" x 5.5"
For the background I used the CTMH SS Intrinsic. Love, love, love!! that set. I clear embossed the vase which gave it a ceramic look. (After I stamped the image, I covered the whole image with VersaMark, then sprinkled clear embossing powder on it, heated it up, let it cool, then cut out the image.)
The flower, vase and petal are attached using 3D Foam Squares. I did alot of sponge daubing on this card--around the background, the flower edges, the leaf edge, the edge of the plain colonial white piece.
Here's the inside.
Recipe: CTMH CS-Colonial White, Chocolate & Blush, CTMH Ink-Blush, Vineyard Berry, Black, Grey Flannel, Cocoa, Chocolate, Sweet Leaf, New England Ivy & Olive, CTMH SS-Best Wishes, With Love & Intrinsic Backgrounds, Clear Embossing Powder, 3D Foam Squares, Rhinestone, CTMH Vineyard Berry Grosgrain Ribbon.
Enjoy,

Mini Criss-Cross Cards

I really like making Mini Criss-Cross cards and I hadn't made them in a while, so I sat down to make a few. I hope you enjoy them. I added a short little tutorial at the end on how to make one.

Card Size: 3" x 4"
Inside piece: 2.5" x 3.75"

Card #1
Thinking of You. The flower on the front of the card I stamped and then clear embossed it an attached it with 3D Foam Squares. I used the Stipple Brush around the edges of the inside card piece, and finished it off with a Bigger Brad and Ribbon.
Recipe: CTMH Paper Pack-Emporium, CTMH CS-Colonial White, Vineyard Berry & Sweet Leaf, CTMH Ink-Vineyard Berry, Black, Sweet Leaf & Olive, CTMH SS-Say It In Style, Friendship Blessings & Simple Blossoms, 3D Foam Squares, Corner Punch, CTMH Colonial White Bigger Brad, Dashes, Dots & Checks Ribbon.
Card #2
For this card I attached some ribbon and Paper Flowers to the outside, and put the sentiment on the inside. It came together very quickly. The tab on the inside piece I made myself (see Post below on how to make one from scratch.) I finished it off with a clear rhinestone for the flowers and 2 pink rhinestones for the tab.
Recipe: Francis Meyer Paper-English Ivy, CTMH CS-Desert Sand, White Daisy, Baby Pink & Olive, CTMH Ink-Cocoa, Vineyard Berry, Olive, Sweet Leaf & Black, CTMH SS-Abundance Borders, Sweet Flowers, Say It In Style & Eastertime, CTMH Just Blooms Big Pinks, Prima Flower, Rhinestones, Dashes, Dots & Checks Ribbon.
Card #3

This Mini Criss-Cross card I made quite a while ago, I used it as a thank-you for baby shower gifts.

Recipe: Francis Meyer Paper-Vroom, Vroom, CTMH CS-Lilac Mist, White Daisy, White Daisy Textured & Outdoor Denim, CTMH Ink-Spring Iris & Black, CTMH SS-Special Days, Say It In Style & Flower Child, 3D Foam Squares, Corner Punch, Pencil Crayons.
Here's a short Tutorial on making Mini Criss-Cross Cards
STEP 1
Cut a 12" x 12" CS piece at 3" intervals
STEP 2
Take one 3" x 12" CS and score it a 4" intervals.
Cut the corners off, going from the Score Line to the opposite corner...see photo.
STEP 3
Put a thin line of glue across the bottom (so that you leave enough space for a pocket for your inside card piece to slide in).
Fold over 1 triangle side...it doesn't matter which way your cross your card, my preference is for the left triangle piece to cross on top of the right triangle piece.
Then fold the other triangle side on top.

STEP 4
Cut a CS piece 2.5" x 3.75", to slide inside your 'pocket'.
Embellish away.
And you're done.
I hope you enjoy making your Mini Criss-Cross Cards!

How To Make A Tab (without a punch...lol)

I am so excited, I just discovered how to make a tab with circles! (Or maybe you already knew, and didn't tell me....tsk tsk :)).

While looking at artwork for inspiration, I was bummed because I wanted to make some Mini Criss-Cross Cards, but I don't own a Tab Punch. All of a sudden, I could see that it was really only 2 circles.

I ran to get my Coluzzle Circle Template to see if it would work, and sure enough it did!!!!!

Here's how I did it:

STEP 1
I used the 3rd circle from the middle on the Coluzzle Circle Template....it measures approximately 2". Score it in the middle...1".

STEP 2
Now take your circle and use the 2nd circle from the middle on the Coluzzle Circle Template. Center it on the score line, and cut 1/2" from the edge.

Fold on the score line, and that's it!!!!! How easy was that!!!

Here's what it looks like on a Mini Criss-Cross Card:

Now go make some tabs....and if you want to share your creations with me, I'd love to see what you did!

Treasure Life's Little Moments

I've had this Silhoutte paper by CTMH sitting around forever. So I pulled it out and this is the card I came up with.

Card Size: 4.25" x 5.5"
There isn't too much to say about how I made the card. I sponge daubed the edges to soften the image, and used 2nd Generation stamping for the flowers behind the main image.
I clear embossed the flower on the front.

Here's the inside of the card.
Recipe: CTMH Paper Pack-Silhoutte, CTMH CS-Black & Colonial White, CTMH Ink-Spring Iris, Black & Grey Flannel, CTMH SS-Treasure Life & Best Wishes, 3D Foam Squares, Grosgrain Ribbon, Clear Embossing Powder, Corner Punch.

Accordian Card

I wanted to try my hand at making an Accordian Card after seeing it in a card magazine. I really like the end result. After I'm back from vacation I want to make a boy one, and one for a teen girl.

Card Size: 2.75" x 8.5"
Here's a short Tutorial on how to make one.

STEP 1
Take a an 8.5" x 11" piece of CS and cut, and score as per the photo.
[I scored the first line at 2.75" and then measured the 1.5" on the opposite side, to find my 'cut line'. I cut my CS, and then went back and scored the other 2 lines.]

STEP 2
Decorate the front and back of your CS piece.
[To save on paper, I didn't cover what will become the back of my card.]
Step 3
Accordian fold your card, and finish decorating. And you're done!

Here's the 'inside' of my card. I used Nestabilities Scallop Oval for the sentiment 'Your Special', and then used Fiskars 1/16" punch to make holes in each scallop. For the sentiment 'Celebrate', I used Fiskars Mini Scallop Scissors. I added pink rhinestones to the sentiments, and the flower centers that the bear is holding. I attached the bear holding the flowers with 3D Foam Squares.
Recipe: CTMH Paper Pack-Sonata, CTMH CS-White Daisy & Baby Pink, CTMH Ink-Vineyard Berry & Black, CTMH SS-The Best Way, Cupcake Sprinkles, You're Special & All My Love, Martha Stewart Doily Lace Punch, Nestabilities Scallop Oval, Fiskars Mini Scallop Scissors, Fiskars 1/16" Hole Punch, Pink Rhinestones, 3D Foam Squares, Pencil Crayons.

Going Green

Sometimes I get stuck for ideas, so this time I used Sketch #312 from Card Sketch A Day. They were doing Christmas in July ideas, but I just received CTMH Damask Tiles SS and wanted to use it, and I thought this was a great layout to do that.

Card Size: 4.25" x 5.25"
Here's the sketch.

I gold embossed the image, here's a close-up:
The inside:
Recipe: Francis Meyer Paper-English Ivy, CTMH CS-New England Ivy, Cocoa & White Daisy, CTMH Textured CS-Sweet Leaf, CTMH Ink-Black & New England Ivy, CTMH SS-Damask Tiles, CTMH White Daisy Bigger Brads, Gold Embossing Powder, Cuttlebug Vintage Die.

Flyin' High...Again.

As I was putting together the other Flyin' High card (7/27/09 Post), I remembered the trick I learned on how to make a sky with a cloud template. And here is the card:
Card Size: 4.25" x 5.5"
I drew my own banner template. I stamped the sentiment on it, then clear embossed it. The plane and banner are attached with 3D Foam Squares. The 'tow rope' is CTMH Black Hemp.
Recipe: CTMH CS-White Daisy, Moonstruck & Indian Corn Blue, CTMH Ink-Black, Grey Flannel, Moonstruck & Tulip, CTMH SS-Flyin' High & Little Boys, Black Eyelet, Clear Embossing Powder, CTMH Black Hemp, Silver Brads, 3D Foam Squares
I put together a little tutorial on how to make a sky with clouds.
STEP 1
Cut cloud shapes out of scrap CS.
STEP 2
Put your template across the paper you plan to use. Take a sponge and tap it on your ink pad to load it with ink. Now tap the sponge along the the top of the cloud stencil. Keep loading your sponge with ink and applying it to your paper until you're happy with the amount on your paper.
STEP 3
Here's what your paper should look like after you've removed the cloud stencil.
Step 4
Reposition your cloud stencil and repeat STEP 2 until you have covered your whole page.
Here's what your paper will look like:
Wasn't that fun!
Enjoy,
Deneen
