Top Tip Tuesday Stitches Challenge

Hello and welcome here! Where is this year going?? I can't believe it's almost March, at least we have an extra day this month to hold March off, lol:) On to the Top Tip Tuesday Challenge for the next 2 weeks...it's a Sewing Challenge, real or faux, and Janette has an awesome comparison Tutorial on sewing. (shocked I know, I made a card other than 4.25" x 5.5", lol!)

Here is my creation for the sewing challenge. Be sure to click on the picture to check out the stitches, it's difficult to see because I used white thread. I stitched around each square, around the large square, and across the ribbon border.

A big HUGE thank-you goes out to Saturated Canary for giving me this gorgeous girl to colour, she's called Nevaeh. It gave me a chance to practice colouring folds.

I added Stickles to her skirt, the hearts in the top corner and to the rose on the bow. I added some shimmer to the tulle part of her skirt and her top with a Spica pen...but it's so fine you can't see it on the photo.

Purple is one of my favourite colours to work with, but Copic doesn't have a wide range of purples to work with so I had to improvise a little bit with the lightest purple to get the look of pleats...talk about challenging myself, lol. I see from the photo that I could have extended the shadow area a bit more, but I'm still happy with how it turned out especially since I haven't yet mastered folds/pleats.

A Masculine Sympathy Card

Hello and welcome here! Just where has the week gone!?! Yikes, I can't believe it's already Thursday. We had a day off on Monday, then a Snow Day on Tuesday (yippee, no school/work), and tomorrow is another day off:) Only 2 days of work for me this week!!

Just thought I'd share a fairly simple sympathy card I made a little while ago for a guy at work. I stamped the Thomas Kincade image with Vintage Photo Distress Ink added a sentiment and a couple of embellishments and voila, it's done.

Card Size: 5" x 7"

The card is larger than I normally do so that people had room to sign the inside.

Pop-Up Tag Card

Hello and welcome here. Today I have a Pop-Up Tag card that I taught a class for at The Scrapbook Cottage. I used the Tutorial from Top Tip Tuesday, you can find it HERE.

I love these colours together. The paper I used is from the BoBunny Welcome Home Collection, I used the Front Door sheet.

Recipe: PP-BoBunny Welcome Home Collection, SS-KaiserCraft Decorative Lamp & Flourishes Tag Lines, CS-White & Aqua Textured, Ink-Black, Distress Inks-Vintage Photo, Spellbinders-Labels 4, Fancy Tags, Twisted Metal Tags and Accents & Labels 20, Pearls, Rose Ribbon, Green Organdy Ribbon, Foam Squares.

I used Spellbinders Labels 20 to trim the top of the Tag. I used the same sized die to cut out all 3 pieces, when I attached them together I slightly offset them to give it a matted look.

The Tag slips into the base and folds flat for mailing, how cool is that!!

Wow, the lighting really picks up the variation in the ink on the doily. It was a white doily and I needed cream, so I used Scattered Straw Distress Ink and lightly sponged on the colour, it looks a little smoother in colour in real life:)

I used Once Upon A Springtime Collection patterned paper from Graphic 45. It had the little fairies on one sheet, and I cut apart a small section for the inside flap of my card...perfect for the mystical theme. I distressed the edges with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink.

Accordion Fold Album

Hello and welcome here. I don't have the space I need to scrapbook like I want to, so when I saw that Tannis was holding a class for this Accordion Album at the Scrapbook Cottage, I jumped at the chance to go.

This was Tannis' design and all we had to do was fold, cut, paste, and figure out what photos we wanted to use. The album measures 12" x 12" and the front covers and back are covered chipboard pieces. We used My Mind's Eye Lost & Found 2 Breeze Collection, including the brads, and buttons too.

The sample Tannis made didn't have photos on the front, but I had a few photos left over that I just couldn't leave out, so I plopped them on the front.

Here is a view of the Accordion fold binding.

You end up attaching your pages/photos between 2 of the accordion folds.

Here is the album opened.

We used paper from MME Lost & Found 2 Breeze Collection to make 6" x 12" pages. This paper was perfect for this type of album because it has glitter, and spots for journaling giving you a great look without much effort.

These are the first pages you see when you open the album.

Once you opened the 6" x 12" pages, the next set of pages had room for more pictures because we made smaller mats for the pictures.

Here are some close-up of a couple pages. For the page on the right, I should have moved the bottom picture/mat up to hide the space between the 2 pictures. I used Sookwang tape to adhere my photos & mats to the binding, and once it's in, there's no opening it without ripping the binding....it's awesome double sided sticky tape.

Once the second set of pages is opened there was room to stick photos in the binding...we had the option of using some leftover pieces for matting if we wanted to. We even used the cardboard that the buttons came on...see it on the right there, behind my little guy wearing his 'crown'?

See that space again...wished I had thought of closing that gap before I attached them.

Opening the final pages reveals the back cover which is chipboard covered with the PP. Even though this was Spencer's album, I had to put the picture of him and his sisters in, it's one of my favourite photo's of them.

Thanks Tannis for a great class!! The kids so enjoyed looking at it that my girls ended up wanting their own album's too. Lucky for me Tannis was doing another type of album with girly papers. So keep your eyes peeled, I'll be sharing that one soon!!

Inspired Stamps Favourite Stamp

Hello and welcome here! Well, my term for the Inspired Stamps Winter 2011 DT has come to an end. I have so enjoyed working with Antoinette and the DT showcasing her stamps. Thanks Antoinette for having me on your team, you are such a blessing to others!!!

This week the DT is showcasing our favourite stamp. I chose Inspired Stampers' Favorite Collection #1. It's one of the stamp sets I keep returning to because I love the verses included in the set.

Card Size: 4.25" x 5.5"

Psalm 62:5 is the verse I had suggested when Antoinette had one of her first contests! I love how it fits on Spellbinders Fancy Tags. I simply stamped the verse onto the tag and 'framed' it, adding a simple ribbon flower and flourish to finish it off.
